Science&Coffee is consolidated with the second day

Reference Network in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (XRQTC), Reference Network in Biotechnology (XRB) and CataloniaBio organized last April 25 the Second Conference "Science & Coffee" on the premises installations of Fundació Bosch i Gimpera.

Some XRB and XRQTC research groups have demonstrated their technologies within the field of oncology and "drug delivery", to CataloniaBio associates, as the seed of future collaboration in R+D+i, and within the objective of actively promoting technology transfer from public research to society and the companies involved.

The Alimentaria Hub, Innoval 2012: Meeting point for Innovation, BCNVanguardia, Food Experience, Markets & Trends, Taste & Flavours are events that are taking place from 26 to 29 March in the framework of this Exhibition and where the XRQTC be present through its projects promoter R&D Mónica Fernández.

The XRQTC has launched new lines of research in the area of design of functional foods and the Feria is the perfect scenery to get in touch with initiatives that share common values ​​such as R&D, business development, sustainability and nutrition with the objective of increasing synergies and common denominators.
   

XRQTC participates in Spanish Biotech Platform

The XRQTC as promoter of research, participation in European projects and technology transfer to industry, has been incorporated into the Spanish Biotech Platform.

The platform that running in 2010 ASEBIO with support from the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) and with the collaboration of the Spanish Society of Biotechnology (SEBIOT) and the Genome Spain Foundation, among others.

Its objectives include give value to the Spanish biotechnology bringing it closer to the market, provide the science-technology-industry financing innovative elements, define and resolve the barriers environment to make them a real opportunity for the business Spanish biotechnology leaders and identify global markets where biotechnology contribute a element of competitiveness.

Professor Francesc Illas, among the best reviewers of the Journal of Chemical Physics'

The Journal of Chemical Physics, which lies between the top ten in its field, has published a list of 20 leading authors, 2011, among whom is the Chair of the Department of Physical Chemistry Francesc Illas.

The magazine, which receives over 7,000 requests for experts to review manuscripts, has prepared this list based on four criteria: the number of reviews completed, timeliness, quality and reliability. Journal of Chemical Physics makes a public acknowledgment on this page to the work of these reviewers, whose opinion "ensure quality and consistency of published research."

Francesc Illas (Barcelona, 1954) is director of the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, UB (IQTCUB) located in the Faculty of Chemistry, centers attached to the Barcelona Knowledge Campus. Since 2006 also directs the Reference Network R&D in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (XRQTC). His area of ​​research is to study the electronic structure of surfaces and materials using computational methods. He has published over 400 scientific articles and about 20 book chapters, and between 1981 and 2012 has received over 9,000 citations.

 

   

XRQTC at Foro Transfiere

XRQTC took part at the Foro Transfiere, the first European Forum for science, technology and innovation, held on the 8th and 9th of February in Malaga. The Forum consisted of a meeting point to foster cooperation and exchange of knowledge among entrepreneurs and scientists.
There were over 2500 business meetings attended by more than 1,200 researchers, entrepreneurs and professionals registered.
